Pronoia Theater began from the idea that theater is essential and should therefore be accessible…

Aaron Garrett and Steven Saltsman founded Pronoia proper in the summer of 2018, however the roots of the work of Pronoia go much further back. Over our many years of performing we found a curious diversity in our audiences: people who would never come see us in a conventional theater would be regulars at an improv venue, even though we were doing the same work in both places. Similarly some friends would decline to see us even at an improv venue, but on the off chance that we got a gig at a bar or coffeeshop they’d happily join in. Obviously, something about the perceived austerity of these regular theater spaces put some people off.

We believe that theater, live, in front of you theater, is necessary to a good life, perhaps now more than ever, and Pronoia is dedicated to making vibrant, vital, and thrilling work that meets you where you are: be that a bar, a coffeshop, or a “normal” theater. Theater is for everyone, and therefore for everywhere. Nothing is necessary for theater except an performer and an audience.

That’s why Pronoia sought out unconventional theater spaces and why we’re as proud to perform at Eureka Heights Brewery as at the Contemporary Theater Company.

Here at Pronoia we are zealous about entertaining you, wherever we can meet you.
