About Pronoia Theater

Founded in 2018, Pronoia Theater has deep roots in improv and sketch comedy, but seeks inspiration from and execution in a wide variety of entertainment media - from casual podcasts to full-length, fully-produced original plays. We’re currently working on:

  • Space Train - A visual show in the style of a radio play, Space Train is an hour-long original sitcom about friends, enemies, and Leahs who live and work aboard a…well, a train. In space. It is streamed live online the first Thursday of every month.

  • Improv nights at Eureka Heights Brewing Company - Pronoia performs at Eureka Heights about once per month, where we gather a few friends together for a few laughs and a few sketches, including Magical Lying Hour.

  • Presidential Death Match - Hosted by Dennis Budde and Aaron Garrett, Presidential Death Match is a podcast where we debate which president would be the best - at anything from wedding planning to guiding humanity through the Robocalypse.

  • God Kings - A 90-minute historical sketch comedy show that details - with varied accuracy - the exploits of our former presidents. You can watch the most recent episode here.

  • Start Your Endings - Start Your Endings is a two-person sketch show based off the Barenaked Ladies album Stunt. Start Your Endings had a reading in November of 2021, underwent revisions, and is currently being submitted to play festivals in hopes of an eventual performance.

  • Pitcher’s Mound - Ever in pursuit of great new sketches, Pitcher’s Mound is a virtual workshop that allows comedy writers to have their rough scenes performed and then critiqued by their peers. It’s been a minute, but the most recent episode is here.

About Space Train

In space, no one can hear you scream - except for Tracey, the all-seeing, all-knowing AI aboard the Space Train, of course. But Tracey’s not alone - with her are a whole host of passengers and residents, including retired mad scientist Professor Ratskull, earnest senior engineer Boris, and New Space New York Times reporter Rory Rook, to name a few.

Space Train is an hour-long original sitcom, performed remotely and streamed online monthly. Each episode is written in three acts, with one short advertising parody sketch between each act that serves to break up the main narrative. Intelligent, self-referential, and a little bit existential, Space Train is similar to The Good Place in terms of tone.
